Vermont Frames is the sister company of Foam Laminates of Vermont and is the oldest post and beam framing company in Vermont. Since 1976 Vermont Frames has erected over 1100 timber frames throughout North America. They are located within the same manufacturing facility as Foam Laminates in Hinesburg, Vermont.

Vermont Frames offers traditional and affordable post and beam frames for residential and commercial buildings. They specialize in mortise and tendon "big beam" style joinery, open floor plans, and of course quality hand craftsmanship.

Vermont Frames Logo
Vermont Frames' buildings are typically constructed with softwood - eastern white pine, hemlock, douglas fir or southern pine that compliments "big beam" style framing. Timber connections are engineered, handcrafted mortise and tendon joinery, with hardwood pegs for additional durability.
Vermont Frames offers complete architectural services that can help turn your ideas into workable house plans. They provide full timber frames including roof and floor systems, or a hybrid construction that incorporates selected timber systems with conventional stick framing. With an "in-house" registered structural engineer specializing in timber framing, Vermont Frames can provide sealed drawings.

Once the frame is designed and produced, Vermont Frames can install the timer frame, or provide a technical supervisor to oversee the frame installation by a local crew.

Foam Laminates and Vermont Frames collaborate on projects. Combined, these two companies form a dynamic duo, with the elegance, beauty, and strength of timber framing, and the durability and energy efficiency of foam panels.

What does it mean to have a timber frame designed with mortise and tendon joinery? Well, it means there are no nails and no metal plates. Vermont Frames uses the same quality construction methods used in centuries old buildings that still stand today.
